One of the major challenges that limits the development of 2D semiconductors is the low carrier mobility. Here using advanced first-principles calculations methods, we will show the intrinsic mobility for a variety of 2D semiconductors, including transition metal dichalcogenides and monoelemental materials, and their mobility-limiting factors. Moreover, we will show that strain can significantly change the carrier mobility of certain materials, and the underlying physical origin.
