Sodium ion batteries have been considered one of the most promising large-scale energy storage systems for grid energy storage because of their potentially low cost. The current sodium ion batteries, however, have slightly lower energy density than lithium ion batteries, implying that the energy density limitations offset the cost savings. In this regard, it is demanded to develop high capacity cathode materials for improving the energy density of sodium ion batteries.
