This short communication presents a tri-dimensional macroscopic model for fluid flow within filters composed of a bundle of channel linked together by a porous wall. A local study reveals that a system of two one-dimensional equations is suitable to describe mass and momentum balance in a channel with respect to its neighbours. A macroscopic form of these equations is defined using a scale change based on the volume averaging method applied to the filter cross-section. The resulting set of equations is solved numerically at each time step to describe the kinetics of particle collection at the porous wall. Various test cases are presented to point out the ability of the model to deal with geometric heterogeneity within the filter or complex fluid flow distribution at the filter entrance.
