In modem motor technology BLDC motor speed control plays a prominent role due to their high efficiency, silent operation, small size, reliability and high operating speed. The motor drive exhibits strong saturation characteristics due to the presence of proportional, integral and derivative (PID) controller and pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme given for speed control. Saturation makes the system nonlinear and protection should be configured against internal saturation. An anti windup self-tuning fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller drive giving a fast and efficient response for the BLDC motor is designed. The controller consists of a self-tuning fuzzy PID controller and an anti-windup controller, which combines the merits of these two controllers.
