The heat-treatable Al-Mg-Si alloys have attractive properties such as good formability and high corrosion resistance. With these reasons, Al-Mg-Si (6xxx series) alloys have been widely used for automobile parts, especially their body sheet panels and many applications. These alloys are known to be hardened during the paint baking process at around 170 °C for 20 min in the automobile manufacture process, resulting in increased mechanical strength. The strengthening of Al-Mg-Si alloys is based on a precipitation hardening through the sequence as follows.
