Synthesis and Properties of Covalently Linked Norcorrole Dimers

A large amount of efforts have been devoted to investigating the electronic interaction between covalently linked π-conjugated systems. However, such studies are rare for antiaromatic compounds. In 2012, our group reported an air-stable antiaromatic porphyrinoid, norcorrole. It is a ring-contracted porphyrin with a 16π-conjugated structure, which lacks two meso-carbons from a regular porphyrin.
