Although organic heterocycles have long been the major focus in the exploration of heterocyclic compounds, metalated heterocycles are turning to be a burgeoning research area recently. Metalation as a strategy to functionalize heterocycles is expected to offer an unprecedented variety of organometallic compounds with physical and chemical properties distinct from their organic counterparts.
