Metal-catalyzed cycloisomerization reactions of functionalized alkynes

This article describes some recent examples concerning the metal-catalyzed cycloisomerization reactions of functionalized alkynes.The intramolecular addition of oxygen-containing nucleophiles to alkynes leads to ketals or lactones.The addition occurs through an exo or endo process depending on the metal and conditions.The use of iridium or gold catalysts had allowed the discovery of novel selectivity affording an easy access to some important building blocks for organic synthesis.The,addition of carbon-nucleophile has been widely performed in the presence of transition metal.In the case of enynes,some very peculiar reactivity may be found,especially novel tandem reactions have been discovered and exemplified in the presence of platinum and gold.
