摘要

Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response caused by microorganism in bloodstream. Early detection of pathogens in septic patients is essential for adequate antimicrobial treatment. The clinical treatment of bacterial infections with antibiotics depends on the bacterial species, and especially differs between Gram-positive (GP) bacteria, Gram-negative (GN) bacteria, and fungal infections. In this study, we developed a real-time PCR assay which quantifies and differentiates microbial pathogens as GP, GN bacteria, and Candida species simultaneous in blood culture bottles. The genetic targets used for identification of GP and GN bacteria were 16S rRNA gene and target for fungal identification was 18S rRNA gene.
