Nanotechnology refers to the study and the control of matter on a molecular/atomic scale. Generally, nanotechnology deals with structures of the size around 100 nanometers or smaller, and involves materials or devices that operate with such dimensions. Nanotechnology covers various areas - from modern extensions of conventional physics, to approaches related to molecular serf-assembly or to new materials having nano-dimensions. Biomimetics refers to the examination of the nature, its models, systems and processes which can be source of inspiration, for solving human everyday life problems. The emerging field of biomimetics offered an impulse for the new technologies, inspired by biology, both at macro and nano scales. Topics as nanotechnology and (nano)biomimetics are not included in the national curriculum for Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology) but they represent genuine points of interest for students in the context of the contemporary society, based on knowledge.
