In the past ten years the containment work in Norwegian aquaculture has had a successful focus on technical aspects. The' introduction of mandatory certification and a technical standard (NS9415) has led to a reduction in the number of escaped fish, particularly in relation to the total breakdown of the installations (Jensen et al., 2010). Despite this, escapes still occur, and human error is often claimed to be the main contributing cause for these accidents. To achieve the Norwegian 0-vision for escapes offish from aquaculture installations it is important to understand the mandatory systems and conditions at the workplace which humans are to perform within.
