Nowadays the substitution of fish meal in fish feeds is a very important target of the aquaculture sector. Our former study proofed that European catfish (Silurus glanis) can be successfully reared on plant protein based feeds although in this case the growing vigor was not satisfying. In the present study we tried to impove the previously used plant based feed with the help of different admixtures. Four types of feed were applied: squealer feed (S), squealer feed combined with blood meal (B), squealer feed combined with fermented grain (F) and commercial wels feed combined with fermented grain (C). The feed conversion ratio was 0.95±0.04 at the C group, 1.53±0,06 at the S, 1.53±0,18 in the case of B group and 1,98±0,23 in the case of F group. According to this the growth rate was the best in the C group. Group B had better growing indexes than group F.
