SEASONAL CHANGES IN NITROGEN UPTAKE OF THE BROWN ALGA Sargassum thunbergii (FUCALES, PHAEOPHYTA)

Seasonal changes in nitrogen uptake of Sargassum thunbergii are examined under laboratory conditions from November 2010 to September 2011 with the aim of understanding the characteristics of nitrogen absorption. The uptake rates of N03-N and NH4-N were examined at 5-6 temperature levels (10, 15, 20, 24, 30, 35°C) and 5 nitrogen concentration levels (1/4PESI, 1/8PESI, 1/16PESI, 1/32PESI, FSW) using adult sporophytes of S. thunbergii.
