Conventional TSP strategies cannot handle the situations when transit vehicles arrive simultaneously in the conflicting directions. A realtime, traffic responsive TSP strategy, which is based on demand degree of green, is developed to provide effective TSP control of multiple priority requests. In Demand Degree Calculation, the demand degree of green at green phase and red phases are calculated based on vehicles detection, constrains, green time and waiting time. In Phase Change Decision-making, three schemes of phase change are developed by comparing demand degree of green at green phase with red phases and selecting the next phase. Simulation evaluation is employed to test and compare the efficiency of the proposed TSP system. The results show that the proposed TSP system is efficient to implement TSP control. It is more efficiency than conventional green extension and early green strategies, and is adaptable at high traffic volumes.
