For last several years considerably increased an interest to double chlorides KPb{sub}2Cl{sub}5 (KPC) crystals doped with rare earth (TR{sup}(3+)) ions. Crystals are biaxial, their transparency range is 0.3 - 20μm, have high chemical resistance and low hygroscopicity, they are reasonably hard (2.5 Mohs), have good mechanical properties, and low maxirnum-phonon frequency (hω{sub}0=200 cm{sup}(-1)). Laser action of the TR:KPC crystals was achieved with Dy at 2.4μm [1] and Er at 4.6μm [2]. In the present work we continued studying this new systems based on TR{sup}(3+) doped chloride matrix suitable for diode-pumped lasers.
