Conclusions: 1. The direct transformation of lead into lead sulfate is too simple to get proper simulation results; 2. Lead oxidation followed by lead sulfate precipitation makes the model much more complex: (1) The electrochemical reaction is followed by a chemical reaction changing both thermodynamics and kinetics, as well as introducing a ternary electrolyte instead of keeping the usual binary one. 3. Model validations in terms of discharge voltage curves and PbSO_4 crystal sizes are satisfactory.
