Measurement of the ~3He(α,γ)~7Be γ-ray angular distribution

The ~3He(α,γ)~7Be reaction is under study over a wide energy range with a focus on the determination of the cross-section in the low MeV-region and a measurement of the γ-ray angular distribution at E ≈ 1 MeV. This reaction affects Big Bang Nucleosynthesis and especially the nucleosynthesis of ~7Li. In addition, in the pp-chain of stars the ~3He(α,γ)~7Be reaction has a strong impact on the ~7Be- and ~8B neutrino fluxes. Since the cross section at the solar Gamow energy relies on theoretical extrapolations, its uncertainty currently limits a precise prediction of these neutrino fluxes.
