For the requirements of electrified and autonomous vehicle concepts of the future, both already proven and new plastic concepts based on polycarbonate materials are presented. Here the focus is on three areas of application. In the field of exterior components new concepts for the integration of lighting and sensor technology are presented. The key here is a further development of technologies for the production of plastic glazing. Based on this, solutions for new requirements in the interior in terms of ambient lighting, and the seamless integration of HMI functionalities are also presented. Finally, the role of polycarbonate materials in the safe and efficient integration of lithium-ion batteries into the electrical powertrain is discussed.
