Pet parents are focusing on their pets' nutrition, but they are often times getting their information from non-veterinary personnel or from the internet. According to US Bureau of Labor and Statistics data, tire pet food market is on a growth trajectory, with $31.1 billion spent on pet food in 2017,1 including in some growing niche markets such as grain-free diets. Pet parents are looking to niche diets, such as grain-free diets, believing these are better for their pets. They assume these foods aremore natural, carbohydrate-free, and less likely to result in health problems such as allergies, but this is not the case.
