Third Generation of ZF's 8-Speed Automatic Transmission: Reducing CO_2 emissions in the 8HP transmission

Ongoing changes in legislation and in market demand, including reduced C02 emissions, comfort and dynamic driving requirements, are necessitating further development of existing products. In the meantime, Converter transmissions, dual clutch transmissions and continuously variable transmissions have become equally well-established in the transverse drivetrain. In contrast, automatic planetary transmissions continue to dominate in the longitudinal drivetrain while the dual clutch transmission has found its place alongside the planetary transmission in the sports car segment.
