摘要

Antibiotics are commonly used for treatment of bovine intramammary infection (IMI). However, a non-judicious usage of antibiotics has increased the risk of antimicrobial resistance and reduced the treatment efficacy of infected cows. For this reason, alternative sources for antimicrobials are demanded mainly with focus on treatment of bovine mastitis. Active compounds obtained from Actinomyces genus have been reported to show the capacity of inhibit bacterial growth. Therefore, the aim of this studywas to evaluate the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of two chemically characterized crude extracts produced by actinomycetes isolated from Caatinga region (northeastern Brazil) against mastitis-causing pathogens (Staphylococcus spp. and Streptococcus spp.).
