Protecting Trains and Drivers from Hostile Laser Pointers

Laser pointer attacks against trains are becoming more prevalent. Lasers which can damage eyesight from ranges exceeding 100m are readily available. We derive the key requirements for a protection filter and show how our filter film meets the requirements. The sample filter blocks three laser wavelengths (one each in red, green and blue). Glasses incorporating the filters are available for evaluation. We seek engagement with rail stakeholders to understand sector requirements.
