Size and shape measurements provide conflicting information on the flow properties of these samples. Clear and repeatable differences were observed in the Dynamic Flow and Bulk properties. Both samples were demonstrated to be free-flowing, however as indicated by the poor performance of EIGA, low cohesion does not always equate to good process performance. These results illustrate how the manufacturing method can influence properties of feedstock and ultimately impact process performance. The results suggest that powders with a higher BFE value and lower AR and Pressure Drop values are compatible with the standard settings of the EBM machine Comprehensive characterization enables upper and lower limits of these parameters to be defined in order to define a design space of acceptable powder properties Similarly, powders that are not compatible with the standard settings configuration can be identified and this would allow operator to modify parameters used to determine the required machine settings.
