Research and development on cutting device for separation of maize root stubble from soil

Crop root stubble has large potential for use as a renewable biomass resource in China. It has a wide distribution and is available in large amounts; annual output is about 100 million tons, with about 60% of it coming from maize plants. The current methods of treating maize root stubble are mainly no-tillage planter after mechanical stubble breaking or artificial burning of root stubble. These methods waste resources and pollute the environment. This paper thus proposes a new composite harvesting technology which includes digging, picking and leading stubble, stubble breaking, stubble soil separation and stubble collecting according to the theory of TRIZ. A cutting device for separation of soil from maize root stubble, which can operate synchronously with the 4GCSH-2.6 type harvester of maize root stubble, is designed. Additionally, the optimization design of the axis pin on the roller base is completed, using MATLAB software.
