Synthesis and Characterization of Single-Layer TiO_2 Nanotubes

In this paper, single-layer TiO_2 nanotubes (TNTs) were synthesized through simple chemical hydrothermal treatment process when anatase TiO_2 nanopowder is chemically treated with 10 M NaOH and >99.5 % ethanol at 180°C for 24 hr. According to the Transmission Electron Microscopic (TEM) image analysis, TNTs were formed in the length sizes from 400 to 700 nm with inner diameter of 5 nm and outer diameter of 8 nm. The morphological and structural properties of synthesized TNTs were characterized by powder X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), BET and pore size distribution and UV–Vis Diffuse Reflectance Spectra (DRS).
