摘要

The definition of a vaccine is a preparation of living or inactivated pathogens used as an antigen. The act of vaccination is the administration of a living or inactivated pathogen to induce an immune response. The purpose of vaccination is to stimulate an immune response in the animal to provide protection against infectious disease. It is important to understand the formulation of the vaccine that is being used, the expected protection of the vaccinated animal and limitations of what can be accomplished by vaccination in food animals.
