Influencing mechanism of leader style on team effectiveness

Leader styles had significant effects on team effectiveness. However, the internal mechanisms were still under studied. The paper aimed to explore the question, and grasp the concrete influencing mechanism by comparing the different leader styles. Focused on four team leader styles, including paternalistic leadership, transformational leadership, charismatic leadership and flexible leadership, this paper introduces the specific meaning of the four types of leadership and form an analysis of the effectiveness of leadership. It indicated that the leader styles were multi-dimensional constructs, and different dimensions had significant effects on team effectiveness via differential paths. It could help to understand and exert the positive effects of leader on team's organizational citizenship behavior and performance. It was valuable for research and practice about team management and leader effectiveness.
