Mt. Fuji is an isolated peak and its summit is located at the free troposphere (3776 m a.s.l.). We could observe the background air and transboundary air pollutants in the free troposphere from Asian continent. Iron (Fe) in the aerosols have very important role for the ocean biogeochemistry and climate (Jickells et al., 2005). They could change their solubility by the atmospheric processing during long-range transport (Shi et al., 2012). We collected aerosols and cloud water at the free troposphere, and compared characteristics of Fe-containing particles between in the ambient air and in cloud water.
