This new view looks at models as central to continuity and knowledge interchange throughout the entire life cycle of a systems, and thus critical to a new view of quality that emphasizes effectiveness in use as opposed to simple satisfaction of performance criteria in limited contexts. Models are considered to be any of the many forms in which critical aspects of systems and their operational context can be represented, analyzed, executed, and evaluated.
