This paper is focused to develop a mathematical model for the comparative study of combined effects of free convective heat and mass transfer on the steady two-dimensional, laminar fluid flow past a moving permeable vertical surface subjected to a transverse uniform magnetic field. The surface is maintained at linear temperature and concentration variations. Using a similarity transformation, the nonlinear coupled differential equations governing the boundary layer flow, heat and mass transfer are first reduced to a system of coupled ordinary differential equations and then solved numerically using an implicit finite difference technique. The effects of different physical parameters such as magnetic field strength parameter (M), Radiation Parameter (R), Schmidt number (Sc), buoyancy ratio (Nr) and suction /blowing parameter (f_w) are examined in detail to show the interesting aspects of the solution. Numerical result obtained for the local skin friction coefficient is also been depicted for the different value of buoyancy ratio parameter and suction parameter in order to get a better understanding of the problem.
