Objective To parameterize the design of glass packaging containers with modeling tools-SolidWorks, and to build a glass packaging container library based on secondary development interface. Methods Firstly, analysis the structure and the type of glass packaging containers, and the common glass packaging container library was established based on the cross-sectional shape and bottle-mouth structure of glass packaging containers. The parametric design and assembly of glass packaging containers were carried out by using SolidWorks parts module and assembly module, the engineering drawings were generated. Secondly, the method of secondary development of SolidWorks carried out by using Visual Basic integrated development and dynamic link library DLL. Finally, load the menu of glass packaging container and build up the parametric modification of specific glass packaging container. Results The glass packaging container design module based on SolidWorks secondary development was designed. Conclusion SolidWorks parts module, assembly module, engineering drawing module and secondary development port have great advantages in parametric design of glass packaging containers.
