MMFX2 STEEL ALLOY MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION STUDY

MMFX_2 steel alloy is used for uncoated, corrosion-resistant, high-strength steel-reinforcing products that meet or exceed the mechanical properties of ASTM A615 Grades 75 and 80 ASTM A1035/A1035 M, and AASHTO Standard Specification MP 18M/MP 18. The MMFX_2 steel alloy has the unique combination of both high strength and corrosionresistance that result from the combination of its chemical composition and manufacturing process. Since 2001, MMFX 2 rebar has been used in various public infrastructure and public / private development projects in the United States, Puerto Rico, Abu Dhabi -United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Bahamas, and Canada. This paper will provides the results of a material characterization study performed on MMFX 2 steel and includes mechanical properties from full-size tensile tests on #7 rebar and ASTM E8 tensile bars, Charpy impact testing at various temperatures, metallographic examination and corrosion testing.
