AN EXTRACTION METHOD OF PROJECT'S FAILURE FACTOR IN IT SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

This paper proposes a method of identifying factors that lead to the failure of an IT system development project. In the proposed method, a data-mining technique is applied, and the factors negatively affecting the project are extracted from the development project data. In a case study, we applied the proposed method to actual project development data, and we extracted causes of failure for various project. In the case study, data from over 1000 projects were analyzed. Three primary factors that seem to be highly related to the failure of a project, were detected.
