MEETING NEW SUSTAINABILITY REQUIREMENTS IN PACKAGING THROUGH APPLICATION OF NOVEL CHEMISTRY

摘要

The improvement of paper machine productivity through enhanced drainage and strength with the use of polyamine-based chemistry has been well-documented [1,2,3,4]. However, recycled linerboard (RLB) makers and their customers have recently turned their attention to making their products and operations more sustainable. Reducing overall chemical usage, increasing water system closure, increasing the use of recycled materials, reducing energy usage in the dryer section, and, perhaps most importantly, lowering basis weight to reduce overall packaging material are some of the defining parameters of this new sustainability platform. This paper provides research data and examples of commercial applications that reflect the contributions that this novel technology can make in turning sustainable packaging from a concept into a reality.
