The Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (OSH&E) program at Southeastern was first offered as a 2-year Associate of Applied Science Degree Program in 1996; The Greater Baton Rouge Industrial Managers' Association (GBRMIA), now Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) approached the Department of Industrial Technology at Southeastern with a proposal to start an academic program in safety.
