DESIGN OF THE FRONT/REAR SUSPENSION, STEERING SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION FOR THE FORMULA STUDENT CAR 2010 OF THE TRANSIVANIA UNIVERSITY OF BRASOV

Formula Student is an International engineering competition which aims to develop and form young and well prepared engineers. A number of 270 Universities from all over the world take part in this contest. BlueStreamline, the racing team of Transilvania University of Brasov, was the first Romanian participant that attended a FS event with the BS 09 car. The year 2010 was a new challenge for the team which had to design a better and more reliable car that had to face the high levels of a FS technical regulations. The objective of the team was to design, develop, test and optimise a single-seater racing car. This assumed that the team had to design and test all the components of the car like: chassis, suspension, steering, transmission, engine and adiacent subassemblies. The paper presents the dimensioning, virtual prototiping and manufacuring of the front and rear suspension, chassis and steering of the BS 10 Formula Student car.
