The Influence of Library Managers on Continuing Education ofUniversity Library Practitioners in Vietnam

摘要

To focus on the influence of library managers as a main factor affecting Vietnamese university library staff in engaging in continuing education (CE) activities as a means of improving their work performance. In particular, the paper presents and discusses positive and negative influences of different management approaches and opinions of library managers towards CE. It also presents and discusses strategies as well as actions of library managers to encourage staff in improving their performance. These findings are based on the data from individual interviews with 10 university library managers and 17 focus groups with library operational staff in 10 university libraries across four cities in Vietnam.
