The traditional method of silver plating has been to use "High" Cyanide" containing baths. Some evolution of these cyanide containing process meant that lower amounts of cyanide could also be used. Traditionally precious metal plating has not been considered a "polluter" to the environment. With the changes in legislation and the current perceptions regarding the environment, changes to the chemicals used in precious metal plating are now being seen.
