Geographic phenomena are generally recognized as different cognitive scales and include very intricate spatio-temporal processes and continuously increasing geospatial data. Aims at developing a more effective way of representing and understanding these geographic changes, a virtual geographic environment (VGE) based multi-scale representation was developed in this paper. By integrating multiple different scales of atmospheric process models with the complex and accurate 3D geographical information representation, the VGE based geographic process representation was identified to possess the capability to explore geographic mechanism as well as to improve human spatial cognition about geographic rules.
