Tyre roller, whose compaction effect was discovered in motor transportation, is used for compaction of the paving layer materials with specialized pneumatic flexible tyres. It is widely used, mainly for viscous and non viscous material compaction of the road surface and the subgrade engineering, and especially for the final processing of the high grade highway asphalt surface. In the construction of high-grade highway, airport, municipal engineering and industrial site, tyre roller plays a role of high performance compaction equipment. In this paper, based on the usage, user demand status and technical status of domestic tyre roller (including accessories technical status), with reliability, practicality, economy and energy saving as the starting point, some unique structure design and design concept used in tyre roller are discussed for further. Through implementation and validation of specific programs, good results have been achieved. Not only function of the tyre roller, such as compaction effect, compaction efficiency and convenience of operation are further improved, but also higher reliability and higher performance-price ratio of the tyre roller are reached.
