摘要

The present paper describes an experimental study on the effect of the nozzle flow number (FN) on the full load performance of a modern Euro5 diesel automotive engine, in terms of torque, efficiency and exhaust emissions. One of the most crucial factors affecting engine performance and emissions is the nozzle FN and its influence becomes more and more important as high performance and low emissions are continuous requirements. In order to gain fundamental knowledge for the development of the future combustion system design, the effect of the FN on combustion behaviour has been experimentally characterized on a last generation diesel engine. An experimental campaign has been carried out, testing the engine in three partial load operative points, representative of the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) procedure, and in full load engine conditions.
