The method involves guiding adjustable partial flow of charge air in bypass to an expansion turbine (21) depending on an internal-combustion engine i.e. diesel engine, load. The adjustable partial flow is directly diverted from a charge air line (12) and supplied to the charge air line behind the expansion turbine. An additional adjustable partial flow of charge air is guided in the bypass to an auxiliary compressor (19) depending on the engine load and diverted from the charge air line. An independent claim is also included for an internal-combustion engine.
