Medical diagnostic instrumentation systems today require the integration of advanced electronics, microfluidics and disposables containing biohazardous materials, with traditional fixed instrumentation systems. These designs require an interface between the disposable microfluidic cartridge and diagnostic instrumentation system where achieving precise alignment tolerances are critical to operational success. This presentation will discuss the allocation of tolerances, innovative design alternatives and assembly processes/tooling utilized to resolve electro-mechanical positional and electrical requirements.
