Nanocrystalline NiO/YSZ composite particles were synthesized by a co-precipitation method using nanocrystalline YSZ particles with the size of approximately 5 nm. The YSZ particles were well dispersed electrostatically into an acidic aqueous solution containing Ni~(2+) ions and precipitated simultaneously with amorphous Ni-precursor by increasing pH of the solution. Ni-precursor/YSZ composites were converted to the nanocrystalline NiO/YSZ composite particles by heating them at 600 oC. Crystalline size of NiO and YSZ in the composite particles calculated to be 6.1 and 3.5 nm, respectively, from the X-ray diffraction data. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the particle size was less than 100 nm even after heat treatment at 1000 oC. Area specific resistance (ASR) of Ni/YSZ anode derived from the composite particles was 0.12 ohm·cm~2 at 800 oC.^
