The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material having a hollow structure synthesized by co-precipitation, a method for manufacturing the same, and a lithium secondary battery using the positive electrode active material. According to various embodiments of the present invention, the positive electrode active material comprising lithium transition metal oxide having a hollow structure is formed, thereby making a surface area wider and a diffusion distance of lithium ions shortened, and forming a ternary system having high capacity and stability.
