Factors affecting Ambient Particle Size Distribution: Characteristics Investigation of Testing Dust for Air Filters

A database for the ambient particles size distribution has been prepared from literature survey in order to discuss candidates for the standard test dust for general ventilation air filters including JIS-11. Size distributions were discussed in relation to influencing factors such as geographic location of sampling site, land use around each site and sampling season. The land use was found to be the most influencing factor to the ambient particle size distribution. Ideally -dispersed JIS 11 dust might be the most possible test dust showing a good agreement with characteristics of ambient particles than other available test dust although further adjustment may be required.
