Chemical industry, more than any others, is perceived as a potential threat for mankind and environment. The fire and explosion potential in chemical industries, especially those processing/storing chemical materials, is enormous. The risks due to the fire and explosions of flammable materials have been managed through the technical regulations on the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act) of Korea. Currently, some important physical factors influencing the severity of fire and explosions have not been considered in the indexes in terms of fire and explosions.
