For some years, the oem's are confronted on one hand to the constraints of environmental regulations and, on the other hand, to the constant increase of oil's price. Because of that, reduction of vehicles consumption becomes a priority and consequently components mass reduction becomes a main target of the car manufacturer. Sound proofing parts and notably the sound proofing dash inner are, from this point of view, a good example. With masses which can exceed 10 kg, they offer a high potential of mass reduction. Sound proofing material known as three layers system (light insulating spring/mass system with added absorption cabin side) offers the best compromise between acoustical performances and mass reduction. Based on these elements, TREVES has developed the FF2T concept. This concept is based on an innovative three layers sound proofing system specially built to allow high flexibility. This flexibility is characterized by the possibility to have different types of acoustic functions in the same part (pure absorption, pure insulation, three layers system). In fact, FF2T gives the possibility to adapt, locally, the acoustic function to the minimum needed in order to optimize the part's weight without imposing a part's cut out. It is well known that separate a part in 2 or more parts is prejudicial notably at the level of acoustics and assembly. Moreover, the FF2T assembly is made easier by the weak part's weight but also by the mechanical good manner allowing to reduce the number of fixing points.
