Towards Semantic Affect Sensing in Sentences

Recently, there has been considerable interest in the recognition of affect in written and spoken language. In this paper, we describe a semantic approach to lexical affect sensing in sentences that uses findings from linguistic literature and from empirical examples. The approach is evaluated using a corpus containing 759 English sentences.
