Use of geosynthetics technology for river embankment protection using a cellular confinement system

A category of geosynthetic material named the "geocell" has been successfully introduced to the construction industry during the past years. The technology of the Geosynthetic Cellular Confinement System gives a new engineering approach for designing and constructing geotechnical earth structures for slope protection and earth retaining. The Cellular Confinement System (CCS) solves construction problems associated with properties of materials used for road embankments, their confinement, drainage and stability of steep slopes with difficult ground-water conditions.
